David Burles was born and currently resides in Melbourne, Australia.
He had developed an early interest in music, from composing simple songs on a tiny Yamaha PSR keyboard at age 8, to taking up guitar at 14. His main musical influences stemmed from a wide range of styles, but his main interest soon shifted towards dance music upon hearing some early Sasha compilations, and then a few years later discovering Trance.
2000 marked the year in which David became interested in producing music, starting out on ‘Propellerheads Rebirth’ and then moving onto ‘FruityLoops’ (today ‘Cubase’). David worked tirelessly learning about production through little more than reading and trial and error. With a perfectionist’s ear, he continually strived for nothing but the best. David has always enjoyed writing a wide range of different musical styles, such as producing and mixing music for a Hip-Hop group. He also often plays Guitar (Electric, Acoustic & Classical).
4 years later marked a pivotal point in David’s music career in late 2004 when he picked up a remix contract from a well known UK label, Lost Language. The song was a production by the popular artist John Graham (aka Quivver) titled ‘Space Manoeuvres – Zone Two’ the Remix gained a release on a special 120 pressing limited edition LP titled ‘Factoid’ each individually signed by John Graham. David at this stage had moved into a far more progressive type sound.
No more than a month later ‘Lost Language’ signed two of David’s original works titled, ‘Sentiment’ and ‘Reflection’. Also during this time David was working on a new song titled ‘Second Day’ which ended up becoming a collaboration with Jose Amnesia (who is synonymous with his classic ‘The Eternal’). Shortly after ‘Second Day’ was complete, Paul van Dyk had got a hold of the track and instantly fell in love with it and to quote his words from his top 10 tunes of the month in MixMag “I love this and I’ve now signed it to Vandit. Look out for it!”
Not only was the track released on Paul van Dyk’s highly respected Vandit imprint but he also included the B side of the record, the massive Martin Roth Remix on his second mix compilation ‘The Politics of Dancing 2’ not to mention the support of 10plus other mix compilations from around the world from such artists as The Thrillseekers, Solarstone & Lange to name a few. ‘Second Day’ has received massive support from all the top names in the Trance scene, it’s been in regular rotation on Paul van Dyk’s own radio show and scored tune of the week on Above & Beyond’s radio show, and this is just the beginning!
